I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the California
Institute of Integral Studies. The central focus of my practice is working with anxiety disorders and related
issues, including social anxiety, panic, agoraphobia, specific phobias, generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsive
disorder and PTSD- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I also work with older adolescents, families, and couples, and work with adult individuals around a variety of
different issues such as depression, low self-esteem, assertiveness training, body-image, anger management, major
life transitions, crises of mid-life, grief and loss, and other issues as well.
My work as a therapist is proactive and engaged, and simultaneously based on the deep belief that real change
comes from moving out of self-judgment, towards the compassionate acceptance of who we are right now, in all
that we may be experiencing. In that spirit I create a space that is supportive and non-judgmental, while gently
challenging belief systems and patterns of thinking and behaving that hold you back from becoming your most
vital self.
I have advanced training in EMDR, used for working with anxiety and trauma, and have training from the Gottman
Institute in couples counseling. I also have over 15 years experience in mindfulness practices and Buddhist
psychology, Gestalt therapy, somatic practices such as Hakomi, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), and have
trained in Non-Violent Communication (NVC) as well as various Native American healing practices.
I have a special love for working with adolescents and young adults as they find their authentic voices and vision,
and emerge into their unique, empowered selves. Transitional times of life such as these, while often challenging
and difficult, are a rich opportunity to find one's truth, and to explore the greater existential questions that
give meaning to our lives on Earth. As such I also work with people in mid-life, who wish to embrace the second
half of their lives with greater insight and meaning.
My other areas of interest include working with family members of adults with mental illness, combat veterans
from Iraq and Afghanistan and their families, and survivors of sexual abuse and domestic abuse, based on my 15+
years of combined experience in the fields of mental health and domestic violence.
